The good news is that Americans' distrust of government is at its highest level ever. It's good news because it shows the public recognizes how poorly we're being governed. Not much good comes out of trusting people who shouldn't be trusted, not much good comes out of re-electing them, either.

Politicians do little in regard to earning our trust once they have our vote and a lot which demonstrates their arrogance, and selfish qualities. They often make laws based on their prejudices and not the voters need or expectations then dismiss the voters who express concerns about the results of their decisions of subject matters. It is believed and often proven that most politicians are liars and narcissists. It isn't too big a stretch to see the connection.

Narcissists are arrogant, self-important, see themselves as special, require excessive admiration, have a sense of entitlement, and are manipulative. Politicians can also be known as puppets. Some of them have strings that can be pulled by their financial supporters. It doesn't matter if they're Democrat or Republican, politicians need money to campaign. It's the source of the money that creates puppet-masters and puppets. For most voters the biggest challenge today is to find a politician who represents them instead of a party brand and corporate backers.

As long as we have the puppet masters the threat remains that our next elected officials won't even have to campaign, he or she will simply buy the position. Our political system should not be designed for puppets, but for serious candidates that has a true desire to create laws that are fair, and improve the living conditions of all humans. Therefore, they should be elected by the people for the people.

The public also perceive politicians as the bigger phonies than actors. How can you ever believe what some of them say? Some politicians come election time can be the best actors or actress. They follow a script and put on a good show. They convince you they're sincere and compassionate by kissing whatever needs to be kissed and appearing at public events. As soon as the election is over the elected officials somehow loses touch with the voters and stop caring about the views of average people. They don't return calls, stop appearing at public function, seem passive aggressive when you finally reach them to communicate a concern or just ask a question. Some will not return a call, email, or text. But somehow they continue to be re-elected. Negative views of elected officials are hardly a new occurrence this perception has been known for years, and with the upcoming, election approaching, the faults of elected officials have taken on a more severe distrust. Confidence in the government to do the right thing is central to elections and accountability. Many people, agree on what government should accomplish, like peace, education, equality and economic growth. Handling these issues should not cause public distrust but it has and mainly because people disagree over the means, while still agreeing that the goal is desirable.

The gap between the number of Republicans and Democrats who trust the government to do what is right has grown and president by president, it appears the gap appears to be getting bigger. It is reflected that Democrats have higher confidence in the government when their candidate is in office, and the same is true for Republicans when their party is in power. Independents usually reflect the views of the out party. It appears that the lack of transparency might be the core cause of the declining trust, due to the lack of information and knowledge not being shared have led people to distrust the governing system because the elected officials is representing their own interest and their puppet master interest. The elected officials don't expect voters to ask questions. The voters should hold elected officials accountable for representing them and expect transparency. The less the people are involved with its government the more likely the elected officials will become less trustworthy, creating a divide in government. The younger generation should not have to experience this political distress.

Voters ask yourselves, do we need better politicians? Or do we need to be more involved with holding politicians more accountable?
