“I went for general education courses, composition and oral communication,” said Web. “I also took an EMT course because we have medical opportunities here. You can always find work in the medical field.”

He is not only a leading student in the classroom but also with extra-curricular activities. The USNA looks for a well rounded candidate within a three pronged approach.

“They have a ‘leadership triangle’ for a well-rounded student,” said Web. “You have to be athletic, excel academically and demonstrate leadership to be a naval officer — a leader of men.”

Web rounds out his Marion High School academic experience as a student-athlete and leader among the Patriots student body.

He is co-captain of the track and cross country teams and stays busy running each spring and fall semester. He serves as president for Delta Christian Association (DCA) Brothers. He plans on staying active with intramural sports at Annapolis.

“Web is an outstanding young man — the kind of person that our community, state and nation can take great pride in,” said Marion Superintendent Dr. Glen Fenter. “Obviously, we very much look forward to watching our own Marion Patriot evolve into a great American patriot as well… we wish him only the best!”

When Brown met with Senator John Boozman, the two posed for a memento photo. The senator was left with an impression and offered his congratulations.

“We are all proud of Web for this great achievement,” said Boozman. “His record of academic success, community service and leadership truly set him apart. I was honored to nominate him to the U.S. Naval Academy and look forward to seeing what he accomplishes in the future.”
