Garden Club

The Hughes Town & Country Garden Club met on November 18th at High Water Landing. This month’s hostesses were: Mary Ann Pittman and Woodis Dunn. The ladies agreed to make a donation personally so that HTCGC could present the Hughes Food Bank with a check. Teresa Shannon will be the North East District Director for 2017. We will host the Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs, Mid-Year Board meeting, next Aug. 7-8, in Forrest City, at the Woodruff Electric Building. For those people who save aluminum tabs, box tops for Education and UPC labels from Campbell’s soup labels, if you would like to donate to any garden club member, just let one of them know and they can pick up. Last year HTCGC turned in over 21 pounds of tabs to the Ronald McDonald House. Box tops and soup labels used to be given to a school in Memphis, now they go to an elementary school in Arkansas. Their program today was given by Timothy Stackhouse on Trees. The ladies enjoyed a lunch of Garden Salad, Lasagna, Spinach, Rolls, and Strawberry

Better late than never…

This is Shirley Phillips’ yard at 165 Lakeview Dr. She got August of the Month from Hughes Town & Country Garden Club. You should drive by next year, because she has plants of all kinds along the fence line in back of the house and a sitting area to the right side of the house.Your guaranteed to see her outside working in the yard, despite the temperatures, she does all the work herself.
