Boozman, Crawford re- elected; incumbents win in Quorum Court

news@theeveningtimes.com

All indications were that U.S. Senator John Boozman (R) and Congressman Rick Crawford (R) would easily turn back their challengers and those indications proved true last night. Boozman, Arkansas’ senior senator, was re-elected by a nearly 2-to-1 margin, outpolling Democratic challenger Conner Eldridge 59-to-36 percent. Libertarian Frank Gilbert was an also-ran with less than 5 percent of the vote.

The Democratic Party didn’t even offer a challenger for Crawford’s District 1 seat. His lone challenge came from Libertarian candidate Mark West. Crawford garnered 77 percent of the vote to West’s 23 percent. The three remaining U.S. Congressmen from Arkansas, all Republicans, were also re-elected. Rep.

French Hill (District 2), Rep. Steve Womack (District 3), and Rep. Bruce Westerman (District 4) all won their races by comfortable margins. In Crittenden County, a number of Quorum Court seats were up for grabs, but only one was in a contested race. District 9 Justice of the Peace Kenneth Cross was re-elected, outpolling challenger Steven Jefferson 503-436. All other offices were uncontested.
