*** Ever wonder…. Several West Memphis Schools have construction projects ongoing at this time.. . which is a great thing for the area after all these years…ever wonder why they waited… why they didn’t start on the summer rather than wait til school began to start construction ??? wonder why the West Memphis went to a “C” rating… many of them used to have an “A” rating. Ever wonder why the flow of student traffic around the schools is a major cluster bomb. Ever wonder why certain principals at schools are out in the street… morning and afternoon directing traffic instead of managing what goes on in the school? Could it be that some of our educators are more suited to micro managing traffic than concerned with educational curriculum. Ever wonder why people with all this book learning don’t have the COMMON SENSE of a farm animal to simply ask and get permission to move crosswalks at the schools…. make traffic flow easier ???

Drive by Avalon and Barton any morning or afternoon. The crossing guard sits in her car when children approach… she gets up… but never goes more than 3 feet from her car…. if you don’t for her… you don’t see her… what good is it… At the high school on Broadway the guard spends more time on the shopping center parking lot talking w folks than paying attention to traffic… when she actually does interrupt her conversation to actually perform her duties, she actually sticks a stop sign out to the side… great if you are lying down driving or just got run over… Ahh Bill Kessinger we miss you and long for the respect this City used to have… when our police department was referred to with respect rather than cowboys…. I loved the story about the patrol car being wrecked while escorting a funeral a while back…

[ Editor’s Note: It’s obvious you had some things to needed to get off your chest, so I’m glad we could provide a forum for that. On your opinion- type statements, I’ll just leave them be, but all of the work being done on the West Memphis schools was actually started months ago.

They did not wait until the school year started. In fact, we ran “ first day of school” pics in August showing the kids arriving via newly- constructed entrances and such.

I will say this, though… If you feel you have the solution to some or all of these problems, the West Memphis School Board meets on the third Tuesday of the month, at 7 p. m. at the Central Office at 301 S. Avalon. Perhaps you’d like to share your thoughts with them? But if you loved the story about the patrol car being wrecked,” perhaps your wisdom would be better shared elsewhere]
