Lake Wedding
Congratulations to Ron & Natalie Ruthe. Natalie Hubbard Ruthe is the daughter of Gregg and Jennifer Ray of Horseshoe Lake and Annette and Alvin Salinas of Marion. On Oct. 8, their wedding ceremony and reception took place at the Surf Club. Bridesmaids were daughter, Cassidy and Best Friend, Simoine Johnson. Natalie was walked down the aisle by her two sons, Conner and Dalton, who joined the Groom and Best Man, Travis Johnson. The setting was decorated with beautiful fall foliage and the great Lake Of Horseshoe as the backdrop. Barbecue with all the trimmings was served to a hosts of family and friends in attendance. Music, dancing and fun was had the rest of the evening after the ceremony and reception. Ron and Natalie have been together for three years and will continue to reside in Marion.

Fire Dept.
The Horseshoe Lake Volunteer Fire Department voted at their last meeting to suspend the Fall Festival this year. At this time they are planning on something early next year.

Fall Carnival
The Hughes United Methodist Church will have BBQ plates available on Halloween night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. They are $8 a plate, dessert will be available for an additional charge. This year there will be no games, since the children are out trick and treating.

Condolences
Our prayers and thoughts go out to the families of Nikki Pipkin, who passed away on Sept. 1, and Mark Hopkins of Horseshoe Lake. Mr. Hopkins passed away on Sept. 30, at the age of 54.

CCMG meeting
The Crittenden County Master Gardener’s had their monthly meeting on Oct. 11. That was the week that Master Gardner‘s, state wide, were celebrating their 28th year. Crittenden County Master Gardener’s celebrated their 11th year. The CCMG would like to thank those that stopped at their booth at the Crawfordville Festival and purchased items available. Ron Baker received his 5 year pin and certificate. Anyone interested in attending the 2017 Master Gardener seminar starting in February should contact the County Extension office at 870-739-3239 for information and an application. For the year 2017, St. Francis County will host the seminar at the Woodruff Electric Building in Forrest City.

Trip
This year for their anniversary and birthdays, Summer Bacon gave her parents, Curtis & Holly Bacon a weekend at Gaston’s on the White River. Early October The Bacon’s went to Lakeview, and enjoyed trout fishing on the White River and also played golf at River Cliff Golf Course. On their way home they took the long way, and went to Fayetteville to attend Master Gardener Appreciation Day at the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks, before returning to Horseshoe Lake.
