Hope House holding giveaway Saturday morning

Clothing, household items must go to make room

Hope House is on the go and growing. The ministry recently moved straight west across Highway 77 to set up warehouse operations. The all volunteer non-profit organization works three in three areas. What started as a ministry on Sunday afternoons for women in the county jail moved to a women’s home and developed into a hunger ministry. 318 families found food assistance at Hope House in just one rainy day Friday last week. Hope House purchases food by the pound from the Mid-South food bank and gave a semi-truck load of groceries away to qualified households in a drive through distribution at the Marion Sports Complex. Hope House Founder and Director Mary Gibbs spoke about the group effort commitment to turn out on a rainy morning.

“I just stand amazed at our awesome God,” said Gibbs. “Our volunteers turned out in the rain, and labored hard together to distribute the groceries.”

The blessings do not stop there. The new warehouse is on the northwest corner of AFCO Road and 653 Highway 77 is overflowing with clothes and some household items. Board Member Kim Gibbs says it all has to go to make some space.

Hope house will open the doors Saturday and try to give it all away. Many people feel compelled to leave a donation which are gladly accepted. Any donated money goes to pay the bills, retire debt and help more Crittenden County residents in need. Clothes, shoes, linens, jewelry, kitchen items and furniture are lined up and waiting. The giveaways have been very popular and really drive the traffic on the busy corner. The group issued a note of caution.

“The give away starts Saturday morning, October 22, at 8 a.m.,” said Kim Gibbs. “Please do not arrive before 7:30. The gate will be locked. Do not line up on Highway 77.”
