Fall reveals muscle weakness on one side
Bryan Jackson seeks re-election to Marion City Council
Marion City Councilman Bryan Jackson is running for re-election for the Ward 3, Position 1 seat on the Marion City Council.
Jackson, a lifelong resident of Marion, has served on the city council for the past 14 years.
“I enjoy being a part of what is going on in the city,” Jackson said. “I would greatly appreciate your support for another term on the council so we can continue to move the city forward.”
Jackson chairs the sanitation
committee and also serves on the parks and recreation committee.
While on the council Jackson helped push for construction of Marion Fire Department Station 3 on the east side of the railroad tracks, the building of a new police station, and also the remodeling of city hall.
Jackson said one of his goals for another term is to help the city expand its recycling program and make it more cost effective by adding a cardboard baler.
“Right now we are losing money on the program,” Jackson said. “But one of the things we are working on is to buy a baler.”
Jackson said he also will continue to advocate for more road resurfacing projects in the city and infrastructure improvements.
“Adding more paving equipment was big for us,” Jackson said. “We can now dictate when we want to redo certain streets and get more accomplished rather than having to wait on contractors to get to it. That shortens the time frame for getting them done.”
Getting the railroad overpass built will also be a top priority.
The overpass will connect Hwy. 77 to Military Road and provide some much needed relief for residents who live on the east side of the railroad tracks in River Trace who frequently get delayed at the railroad crossing due to passing trains.
The project is expected to cost $11 to $12 million.
“The council has approved moving forward with the footprint for the overpass,” Jackson said. “It is in the state’s hands now. We will continue to find a way to fund that whether it is a bond issue or whatever direction we want to go. So the wheels are turning on that.”
Jackson is married to Kim Jackson and has two daughters, Kirsten, 13, and Abby, 8.
He is a graduate of Marion High School and Arkansas State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in criminology and psychology.
Jackson is the national sales manager for Langston Bag Company where he has worked for the past 21 years.
He attends Marion First Baptist Church and served as past president of Marion Chamber of Commerce and was a volunteer firefighter for 14 years.
“I grew up here,” Jackson said. “My parents are here.
I went to school here. I’ve just always been a Marionite. I enjoy giving back to the city and love being your councilman. I’m asking for your vote for another term
on the city council.”
