WM opens district tournament at home
Saturday match will be against Jacksonville
WM School District The West Memphis Lady Devil volleyball team will host a first-round 6A-East Conference Tournament game Saturday at Lehr Arena.
The Lady Devils will play Jacksonville at 5 p.m.
It marks a first for conference tournament play in volleyball. The tournament games will be played at the school with the highest seed.
West Memphis is the No. 4 seed and Jacksonville is the No. 5 seed. The winner of Saturday's showdown will play Tuesday at Marion, the top seed which was awarded a first-round bye.
'We're super excited to host a tournament game here,' said West Memphis head coach Erin Neeley. 'We think we'll do well and we're hoping for a big crowd to come watch the game.'
The conference tournament will determine seeds for the forthcoming state tournament. The final of the conference tournament will be played Oct. 22.
'The last time we played Jacksonville it was a very competitive game,' Neeley added. 'That was four years ago. It was a back-and-forth game. I'm anxious to see how we compete.'
Admission to Saturday's contest is $5.
