DeltaARTS moves into new home

Board holds first meeting at Schoettle Center

DeltaARTS DeltaARTS has officially moved to the newly-renamed Glenn P. Schoettle Arts Education Center, and invites the public to “Opening Celebration: Phase One” on Thursday, Sept.

29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Schoettle Center. This opening event will feature DeltaARTS' new gallery filled with art by local and regional artists' work, live music by the Luna Nova Ensemble, refreshments, the opportunity for selfguided tours of the new facility, and the unveiling of DeltaARTS' new logo.

Located at the corner of West Tyler and South Rhodes in West Memphis, the Schoettle Center was designed by Pat Magruder and was formerly used as the medical education center for Crittenden Regional Hospital. The family of Dr. Glenn P. Schoettle gave the building that bears Dr.

Schoettle's name in memory of his service as a beloved physician and teacher.

'Our family is so pleased that the doors of the Schoettle Center are open again, and that DeltaARTS is the organization that will make it their home,” said Dr. Phil Schoettle, DeltaARTS new Ex-Officio. “DeltaARTS is such an important institution in our community, and we know that in this we space they'll be able to provide even more opportunities for the Delta.'

Community support for the move has been tremendous so far. The Schoettle Family Foundation has made funds available to DeltaARTS for building repairs and maintenance, and the Crittenden County Quorum Court is leasing the Schoettle Center to DeltaARTS for a dollar a year for 25 years. PKM Architects has donated their services to design the phase one and phase two renovations, and East Central Arkansas Community Corrections is taking care of landscaping and yard maintenance, inerior cleaning services, and set-up for special

events.

DeltaARTS Executive Director Amelia Barton is very proud and thankful that the Schoettle family and the Quorum Court chose DeltaARTS as the new tenants of the state-ofthe- art building.

“We couldn't be more excited to be in the Schoettle Center,” Barton beams. “It is such an honor to be here.

From the beautiful atrium that has become our new gallery, to the auditorium space we're planning to renovate and use for rehearsals and performances for the community to enjoy, to the natural light that cascades in from the breathtaking ground-to-ceiling windows — it is a perfect fit. There are endless possibilities for DeltaARTS to offer amazing arts opportunities for people of all ages throughout the mid-south in this facility.”
