Catch classic flick “ The Goonies” at Regions Plaza

ralphhardin@gmail.com The Marion Patriots and West Memphis Blue Devils will be squaring off tonight at Patriots Stadium in Marion, but if big crowds or football aren’t really your thing and you’re looking for some free family-friendly fun, then head down Broadway. No, not the one in New York!

Tonight, Main Street West Memphis and Regions Bank are set to present the next show in their “Movies on Broadway” series.

Beginning at 7 p.m., Main Street and Regions will be playing the 1985 family classic “The Goonies.” In order to save their home from foreclosure, a group of misfits kids set out to find a pirate's ancient valuable treasure. The fan favorite flick has quite the pedigree, written by Steven Spielberg and Chris Columbus, and directed by Richard Donner, “The Goonies” recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, and the movie still holds up after all these years.

The show is sponsored by Pancho’s Mexican Restaurant, and will be screened at the Regions Plaza at 231 E. Broadway, in West Memphis. The show is free. Bring your chairs, blankets and drinks (no alcoholic beverages).

Free popcorn will be served.
