Important Election 2016 Dates and Deadlines

Secretary of State sets Absentee, Early Voting schedule

Absentee Ballot Begins: Deadline for the county board of election commissioners to deliver absentee ballots to the county clerk for mailing to all qualified applicants for General Election Sept. 22.

Absentee Ballot Request deadline: Deadline for county clerk to deliver ballots to those absentee voters who made timely application under the law Ark. Sept. 23.

Last date for the State to publish polling site locations: Deadline for the county board of election commissioners to change polling sites for the General Election Oct. 9.

Voter Registration Ends: Deadline to apply to register to vote in the General Election. Oct. 9.

Voter Registration Ends: Deadline to apply to register to vote for November 8 Election Oct. 10.

Early Voting/In Person Absentee voting starts: Early voting begins for the General Election between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24.

Absentee Ballot return deadline – By Mail: Deadline for the county clerk to receive absentee ballot applications by mail, fax or electronic mail for the General Election. Nov. 1.

Early Voting/In Person Absentee voting ends: Last day for voter to participate in early voting.

Early voting closes at 5 p.m. on the Monday before the Election. Nov. 7.

Absentee Ballot return deadline – In Person: Deadline for the voter to personally deliver absentee ballots to the county clerk is no later than the close of regular business hours on the day before the election. November 7.

Absentee Ballot return deadline – By Mail: 7:30 p.m. Deadline for the county clerk to receive delivery of absentee ballots by mail (excluding overseas), or by handdelivery form the designated bearer, administrator or authorized agent of the absentee voter.
