10th annual Delta Fair & Music Festival seeking local talent
Delta fair & Music Festival’s ‘Star of the Fair’ brings Cesar Rocha from NYC
karley@deltafest.com Delta Fair & Music Festival’s “Star of the Fair” will be taking place Sunday, Sept. 4 through Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at the Agricenter Memphis –7777 Walnut Grove Rd, in Memphis.
If you have the best voice in the Mid-South and want to have a shot at “Broadway in New York City,” we want YOU to join us for the 10th anniversary of the “Star of the Fair” contest which is modeled after the American Idol talent contest.
All who wish to enter the competition must pre-register by faxing or mailing the Entry Form. The pre-registration fee to enter is $35, which includes free admission to the Delta Fair & Music Festival on Sunday, Sept. 4 – the first round of tryouts. Day of registration at the door is $50, cash only.
For the Preliminary round, we will have guest judge, Cesar Rocha from New York City! Cesar is the main casting director for Telsey Casting, the No. 1 casting agency for all Broadway plays and musicals! Cesar has been a part of Telsey+ Company since 2009, and since then, he has worked on numerous projects including: “The Bridges of Madison County: the Musical” National Tour, “West Side Story” at Paper Mill Playhouse, “Wicked,” “Priscilla Queen of the Desert,” “Into the Woods” with Meryl Streep, “SMASH” on NBC, and various other Theatre and TV/Film projects with Telsey+ Company. He is on the New York Board of the Casting Society of America. Cesar has also appeared on the Lifetime reality series “Dance Moms.”
Cesar Rocha with Telsey+ Casting, will judge the first round of the Delta Fair. While Cesar is here, He is also going to audition the first 102 people that sign up to do a private audition for commercials and monologues. You will be given a four minute time slot on Sunday, Sept. 4, or Monday, Sept. 5, to present a one minute monologue, a thirty second commercial and answer questions that Cesar will ask.
Telsey Casting handles 60 percent of all of Broadway casting and Cesar is the main casting director. He has been known to take kids all the way up to the producer’s callbacks. Those doing the Star of the Fair vocal competition will have already sung for him. He will be provided the names of each person on his scoring sheets and will make personal comments for himself. Each participant will have to pay $25 for a slot to do their monologue, commercial, hand off their resume and answer questions.

There will be a list of contestant’s names at the ticket booth at entrance No. 3 off of Walnut Grove to get you into the Delta Fair. No other entrance will allow you free admission.
For the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners there will be separate cash prizes for the Junior and Senior division.
