Black Knights scheduled to play in Somerville
Sports Editor After the grand opening of Knights Field II last Friday night, West Memphis Christian will hit the road this week.
The Black Knights will close August by trekking to Somerville, Tennessee to do battle with Fayette Academy.
Fayette Academy (1-0 overall) got off to a roaring start last week, rolling up 60 points in a win against Macon Road Baptist High School.
Nine different players recorded carries for Fayette Academy in the win, and eight different rushers scored touchdowns for the club.
In all, Fayette Academy rushed 23 times for 193 yards, an average of 8.4 yards per tote, with a long rush of 25 yards.
On the other side of the ledger, Fayette limited Macon Road Baptist to 73 yards on 35 rushes, an average of 2.1 yards per carry.
Macon Road’s longest run was a 19-yard carry.

Cooper also carried 14 times for 22 yards and another score.
Senior Thomas Warren was the team’s leading rusher, tallying up 96 yards on 15 carries, while Matthew Baker added 62 yards and Jameson Smith struck for 58.
Warren also hit paydirt with a 75-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter, while Manning Shidler caught 2 balls for 3 yards and Parker Benson reeled in a 22-yard catch as well.
