Wade Baldwin IV, D. J. Stephens scheduled to sign autographs; 5,000 fans receive Redbirds- Grizzlies “ Growl Towel”

By Michael Schroeder Memphis Redbirds MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Memphis Redbirds and the Memphis Grizzlies are once again teaming up to hold “Grit and Grind Night” at AutoZone Park on Thursday, Aug. 25, when the Redbirds host the Nashville Sounds at 7:05 p.m. (CT).

The first 5,000 fans into AutoZone Park will receive a one-of-a-kind Redbirds and Grizzlies logoed commemorative “Growl Towel,” presented by AutoZone, and there will be a pregame party in the left field picnic area featuring the Grizzlies DJ and the Claw Crew, and with special appearances by the Grizzline, Grannies and Grandpas, and the Blue Bunch.

The Grizzlies’ first-round draft pick from June, Wade Baldwin IV, is scheduled to be on-hand to sign autographs and throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the game. Baldwin was taken 17th overall in the draft after playing his college basketball in nearby Nashville with the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Also scheduled to appear is D.J. Stephens, who played his college ball at the University of Memphis and signed with the Grizzlies after shining during the 2016 NBA Samsung Summer League in Las Vegas in July.

In addition, the Redbirds will be wearing all-new special Grizzliesthemed jerseys, which will be auctioned during the game with proceeds benefiting both the Redbirds Community Fund and the Memphis Grizzlies Foundation. Jersey winners will be notified when the auction ends, and they will be brought onto the field to get an autograph from the Redbird player whose jersey they won.

Baldwin IV’s and Stephens’ jerseys will also be signed and auctioned.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and the gates will open at 5:30 to begin the festivities.

Fans can use promo code “GRIZZNATION” and purchase $16 Field Box, $19 Dugout and $23 Club Level tickets, and all promo code purchases come with a Redbirds hat and a voucher for a free hot dog and soda.

Along with “Grit and Grind Night,” it will be College Night and All-You-Can-Eat Thursday at AutoZone Park. On College Night, students with a valid college ID can purchase TruGreen Left Field Bluff tickets for $5, and domestic beers will be $2 apiece at the left field bar. All-You-Can-Eat Thursday on the 25th will feature tacos, with fans that purchase $12 TruGreen Left Field Bluff, $17 Field Box or $20 Dugout Tickets gaining access to an all-you-caneat taco buffet in the left field picnic area.
