40 et 8 Voiture, located at 152 Legion Rd., in West Memphis, is hosting its second annual Runn for Dunn motorcycle Poker Runn Saturday Aug. 13.
Proceeds will benefit the family of Brent Price, the Fallen Riders Fund, and the Nurses Training Fund.
The cost is $20 per bike and $10 per passenger, with an 8 a.m. registration. First bike out will be at 9 a.m., and 10 a.m. will be last bike out.
There promises to be fun for the entire family, including three live bands, food, a 50/50 drawing all day, T-shirts, a bounce house, a horseshoes tournament, a chicken drop contest, a closest-to-the-pin contest, and a live auction.
“We started this event last year as the result of a motorcycle accident that cut a life short, and we helped the family give their son a proper burial,” said Lance Bell, one of the event’s organizers. “We decided to continue this as an annual event and find a different rider or family to help every year.
Bell said the group spoke to two different riders that “had the honesty to tell me outright that they wouldn’t benefit from the money and would like to see it go to someone more in need.”
That took the event’s goal in a different direction.
“(Recently) a young man by the name of Brent Price died in a horrible accident,” he explained. “This young man was not a rider but the first responders were, one of which held him and attempted to comfort him in his last moments and was so stricken by the event and the financial burdens of this young man’s family that a GoFundMe page was started to help with funeral expenses.”
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend to this fun-filled all-day event. If you would like to donate to the auction, items can be dropped off at Larry's Hair Designs on 7th Street — call (870) 735-3990, or Lee's Hair World on Missouri Street — call (870) 732-3600.
