I was watching Sunday Morning on CBS and a story about a convicted felon who supplied the gun that was used to shoot and paralyze a nineteen year old man met his victim. The victims mother was worried about the meeting. The victim just smiled and said we have to forgive to live. This is such a simple but profound statement. It should be adopted. [ Editor’s Note: There are people who seem to have almost a supernatural power of forgiveness. Whatever the circumstances, they can find it in themselves to offer genuine forgiveness to those who have wronged them, and that is truly a standard for which to strive. However, it is a far more common base mentality to not only not forgive those who do us wrong but actively hope for their punishment or seek vengeance. You’re right when you say it is “ simple but profound,” but simply saying it should be adopted doesn’t make it that easy]

*** Regarding the article the white side of view. I am hopeful you spoke for a small number of whites. I am black & I have never received any of those free things & I am sure I know more black people personally than you do. For the most part 95 percent I know work hard & have different levels of education & I never heard any say white America owes anything but the same thing you want equal treatment. Big Corp. for example the Oil Corp. receive millions free welfare money & even Pred. Bush when in office said they were making record breaking profits & they didn’t need. Have you ever seen the show fleecing of America, one example paying millionaires money to not plant a certain crop or have certain cow & some didn’t have a farm. What about more whites getting welfare because it is more of them & the many different races illegal getting free things never worked & can’t pay taxes because illegal. The bottom line is you didn’t say some blacks you put us all the same boat! I never have or will put any race in all the same boat! I am for peaceful protest & legal protest! Those on the bridge didn’t get a permit & should march down bridge not block the bridge peaceful like Martin Luther King & he did get results & yes he gave his life for equality. There are hard working people of all races & yes there are all races want free stuff. Open your heart & mind & see there is good & bad in all races because the color it is your heart like Jesus said & I pray you & others will receive this message with love, peace, truth & understanding! Written with love because your article was so sad, hurtful & true for those who abuse the system but at least half of all races doing right thing & it need to be more & more pray & love than hate! Peace be unto you! Oh, yes my message not longer than the article the white side of view. [ Editor’s Note: I think you may have missed the point of the editorial. It was not that “ all” black Americans are dependent upon the welfare and entitlement system, it was more that “ all” white Americans are not to blame. And you are fortunate that you do not receive any sort of government assistance, as ( according to the U. S. Department of Commerce) 82 percent of black households with children receive some level of welfare services. That compares to 39 percent of white families. And honestly, both of those numbers are actually quite shocking, to me at least. To give you a few more numbers, at no additional cost, 51 percent of Hispanic households and 62 percent of “ immigrant” households are on some type of welfare]

*** To the person in the fast black mustang who didn’t stop coming out of River trace. I did get your license number 007 UOC. Luckily I made a ‘complete’ stop at my stop sign because if I hadn’t waited to make sure you were going to stop I would have been creamed!! This isn’t the first run in at this intersection I’ve had with a souped up black mustang. You DO NOT own the road just because you live in River Trace. I wish a cop had been on Hwy. 77 because you sped down that road too.
