It’s ‘Hoedown’ time, y’all!

Quota Club event still going strong after two decades

ralphhardin@gmail.com Twenty years ago, Crittenden County Charities started the Hillbilly Hoedown. Three years later, the Quota International West Memphis Club took over were they left off, and the annual event has been growing strong and better each year.

Like Crittenden County Charities, the Quota Club makes money to be given back to Crittenden County.

Their efforts help support the speech and hearing impaired, disadvantaged women and children, elderly associations, youth organizations, mentoring programs, hospice services, the Relay for Live Cancer Survivor Dinner, and ASU Mid-South Scholarship programs.

The date for this year’s show, which harkens back to the popular TV show “Hee Haw,” is Saturday, Aug. 13, at 6 p.m. at the West Memphis Civic Complex. Hillbilly Hoedown cast members include city and county leaders, ASU Mid-South staff, local law enforcement personnel and West Memphis firefighters. “Surely there will be somebody you will know!” said Quota International’s Anne Reed. “Save the date. We hope to see you there!”
