WMPD nabs home invasion suspect
Burrows faces burglary, theft charges
ralphhardin@gmail.com Around 11 p.m. last Wednesday, West Memphis police responded to a call at 2007 Wheeler Rd. regarding an aggravated burglary.
Upon arrival, police were informed that two black male suspects had entered the residence and robbed the residents at gunpoint in a home invasion-style robbery.
The thieves made off with a Glock handgun, a sizeable amount of cash and a pair of cell phones, fleeing the scene on foot.
The incident was captured on surveillance video at the residence.
On Friday, June 24, at approximately 5 p.m., Dequion Burrows, a 22-year-old black male, was arrested after an investigation into the crime developed Burrows as a suspect. “Burrows confessed to the crime in a post arrest interview to detectives,” said WMPD Criminal Investigation Division Commander Capt. Joe Baker. “Burrows has prior convictions for Residential Burglary, Commercial Burglary and Theft of Property.”
Baker described Burrows as a convicted felon cur- rently on Parole in the State of Arkansas. Burrows is charged with Aggravated Residential Burglary and Theft of Property both which are felony offenses.
Burrows was arraigned in West Memphis District Court on Monday. He is currently in custody at the Crittenden County Detention
Center.
A second suspect is still at large.
