‘40 for Shorty’ Saturday night

Riverside Speedway set for weekend of special events

ralphhardin@gmail.com Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis is getting revved up for a special night of racing this weekend.

Friday’s races will be headlined by a 30-lap $3,000-to-win USAC National Midget feature.

Tonight, NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. will pilot a USAC midget and a Pancho's 360 wing sprint car, and on Saturday he will drive a Memphis Car Audio 305 wing sprint and a USAC midget.

Plus there will be notable USAC Midget drivers, such as Bryan Clauson and Brady Bacon on hand for racing action.

Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. tonight, with the on-track action getting underway at 6:30 p.m. on the Riverside International Speedway’s quarter-mile high-banked dirt oval.

Classes will include USAC Midgets, Pancho's 360 Wing Sprints and the Parts Plus Riverside Stocks. The format will include qualifying heats and features; plus B Main, if necessary.

On Saturday, USAC Midgets will race in the '40 for Shorty,' featuring a 40-lap $4,040-towin USAC National Midget feature, as well as shows for Memphis Car Audio 305 Sprint Cars and Parts Plus Riverside Stock Cars. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. will drive a midget and a Memphis Car Audio 305 wing sprint.

Ticket Prices are: General admission (12-and-over) – $20; General Admission for children 6-11 – $5; kids 5-and-under are free. Adults can purchase a general admission 2-day pass for $35. Pit Passes are $30. Parking is free on race track property, with paid parking in the American Legion parking lot.
