Greyhounds Add Versatile Forward

In a ceremony on the campus of ASU Mid-South, the Greyhounds have added Trevor Banks by signing him to an NJCAA Letter of Intent and Scholarship Agreement for the 2016-17 season.

Banks, a 6'6' 200-pound forward, graduated from Senatobia High School in Senatobia, Mississippi in 2014 and earned First Team 4A Region 2 honors while averaging 15 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per game. The team captain also shot 52% from the field and 34% from the three-point line for head coach Justin Neely.

He then briefly attended Motlow State Community College in Smyrna, Tennessee, to play basketball before a leg injury forced him to withdraw and return home. After surgery and months of rehabilitation, Banks continued working on his game while taking classes at Northwest Mississippi Community College. Now healthy, Banks looks to continue a promising career with four years of eligibility remaining.

'Trevor has a chance to be a very good player,' said Greyhound head coach Chris Parker. 'He is long, runs well, has a very nice shot and can also post in the paint, so his versatility is certainly something we look forward to utilizing. He is also a very bright young man who has proven he can fight through adversity, and that type of mental toughness reveals a lot about his character. We feel good about his future as a Greyhound and the opportunities we feel he can create for himself,' Parker said.

Banks is the Greyhounds' seventh signee for the 2016-17 season: K.J.
