CCSO welcomes first Crime Scene Technician
Det. Sgt. Dustin Burnett set to complete CST certification
ralphhardin@gmail.com Lawbreakers, beware! The Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office will have a valuable new resource on hand in investigating cases, with the addition of a certified crime scene technician.
“I am very excited to announce the upcoming Graduation of the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department’s first Crime Scene Technician,” said Sheriff Mike Allen. “We are very proud of Detective Sgt.
Dustin Burnett, who will be given his diploma on June 22, in Little Rock, at the University of Arkansas Criminal Justice Institute.”
Allen said Burnett started his six-month course in January and will graduate as a certified Crime Scene Technician through the program and be certified in the State of Arkansas.
The exhaustive course has studies in Crime Scene Management, Latent Fingerprint Processing, Crime Scene Sketching, Note Taking & Report Writing, Biological & Trace Evidence collection, and General Crime Scene Investigation.
Burnett is a native of Mar- ion and a Class of 2006 graduate of Marion High School. He is also a member of the 2016 Crittenden County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class.
Burnett has been with the Sheriff’s Department for the past 10 years and is assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division.
The training was conducted by the University of Arkansas Criminal Justice Institute, and will graduate
only 22 Officers in the
State of Arkansas in 2016.
“I feel this training will benefit this Department and the community in more effective crime solving techniques,” said Allen. “We are very proud of Sergeant Burnett.”
The sheriff added that Burnett already plays a valuable leadership role in the CCSO’s Criminal Investigation Division.
Said Allen, “I look forward to seeing him put into action what he has learned.”
