West Memphis sweeps Jonesboro Westside
Sports Editor The First Community Bank West Memphis Blue Devils evened their summer record at 2-2 after sweeping a doubleheader against Jonesboro Westside.
The Blue Devils captured the opener 13-2 behind winning pitcher Hayden Spears and his five strikeouts and four walks.
The nightcap also went West Memphis’ way, as the good guys won 9-5.
Trey Brossett was 3-5 in the first win with two singles and a double, while Austin Sudbury was 2-5 with a single and double. John-David Kemp was 2-4, Taylor Roeder was 1-3, Tyla Bradford was 2-3 and Mason Kearney finished 13 en route to the win.
In the second game, Owens McConnell picked the win up, with Lance Burch posting the save.
Burch was also 2-2 with a pair of singles while Brossett was 2-3 with two singles of his own. Michael Troxler was 1-2 and McConnell was 1-2 with a double. Kadi Holt was 1-1, and Tanner Ramsey, Seth McGaugh and Jacob Phillips were all 1-2.
