Degrees conferred, honors awarded at various institutions of higher learning

Williams Baptist College awarded degrees to 86 graduates during its 2016 commencement exercises Saturday, May 7. WBC graduates included Harley Strayhorn of of Marion.
WBC also released the names of students on the President’s and Dean’s Lists for the 2016 spring semester. Included in that list was Bethany Cummins of of West Memphis.

Schedler Honors College has selected 75 incoming first-year students as its newest class of Honors Scholars. The Class of 2016 includes 3 valedictorians and salutatorians, and 32 students with an ACT test score of 30 or higher, including Alexandria Williams of of West Memphis, .
*** The University of Central Arkansas has announced the President’s List and Dean’s List for spring 2016. Students must achieve a 4.0 grade point average to receive recognition on the President’s List.
Recognition on the Dean’s List requires at least a 3.5 grade point average. Local students named to the President’s List were: Aaron Crouch of Marion, Emma Henson of Marion, Kenisha Lloyd of Marion, Angelina Marconi of Marion, and Lindsey Woods of Marion. Local students named to the Dean’s List were: Hanna Betts of Marion, Aaron Carter of West Memphis, James Dauksch of West Memphis, Gabriel Gates of West Memphis, Kayla Mazzanti of Marion, Zachary Mize of Marion, Joshua Russell of Marion, Genesis Sanchez Ampueda of Marion, Anna Spotts of West Memphis, and Tyra Williams of Marion.
*** More than 1,300 students were included on the Harding University dean's list for grades achieved during the spring 2016 semester. The following local students were included in this recognition: Anna Dries, an exercise science major from of West Memphis; Danielle Edmonds, a psychology major from of West Memphis, ; Brianna Ham, a nursing major from of Marion; and Courtney Lloyd, a communication sciences and disorders major from of West Memphis.
*** Henderson State University held Spring commencement Friday, May 13, with approximately 470 undergraduate and graduate students receiving their degrees, including local graduates Brionna Keon Crume of Crawfordsville; and Deontae Torrez Mitchell and Shantel Renee Moore of of West Memphis.
*** Crowley’s Ridge College has released its Spring 2016 Semester honors.
Among those recognized was Heather Bronc of of West Memphis, , named to the Dean's List (3.5 GPA for Spring 2016), Sigma Chi Eta (3.5 Cumulative GPA), and Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities.
*** The Dean's Academic Merit Scholarship at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is a competitive scholarship for entering freshmen and requires a 26 or above on the ACT. It awards a total of $24,000 for four years if renewal requirements are met. The following local student earned the UALR scholarship: Mya McCray of of West Memphis, *** The University of Arkansas at Monticello its Chancellor's List and Dean's List for the Spring 2016 Semester. Selection to the Chancellor's List requires a grade point average of 4.0 on at least 12 semester hours of course credit. The Dean's List requires a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, also on at least 12 semester hours. Chancellor’s List: Jay E. Simpson of Hughes, and Hayden T. Jumper of Wynne. Dean’s List: Stanley A. Starks of of West Memphis, and Landon B. McFadden of Wynne.
*** Black River Technical College in Pocahontas conferred degrees or certificates to 219 students on the evening of May 12. The following local individuals received degrees or certificates in the following areas: Joseph B.
Beggs , Earle, Certificate of Proficiency – Law Enforcement; Joshua M. Graves, West Memphis, Certificate of Proficiency – Law Enforcement; Oakley Paul Vanderlinden, Marion, Certificate of Proficiency Law Enforcement.
*** 398 students have been named to the Union University Dean's List for the spring 2016 semester. The Dean's List includes full-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade point average on a four-point scale. Included were Megan Barnes and Danica Smithwick, both of Marion.
