Why has the City of Marion placed multiple 3 way stop signs around? They actually cause more confusion than help, at least in Windsong. Another question… has anyone noticed that the stop sign itself doesn’t reflect at night, only the “3 way stop” below the actual stop sign. Are they being made by Gordon Floyds friends at the bar he owns??? [ Editor’s Note: The 3- way stops are taking me a little time to get used to. The one near Brunetti Park gets me almost every time. As for the “ why,” I’ve been told the stop signs were an alternative to speed bumps. If that’s the case, then it gets a thumbs up from me. I hate speed bumps. I do have to say, though, the signs are a little quirky. They’re shorter than a “ regular” stop sign, and as you mention, they don’t reflect the same way. I’m not sure what the point of your last statement was, but I guess you felt it was important enough to text, so…]

*** 1 dead, & another injured in Earle crossfire [ Editor’s Note: I’m just going to admit I have no idea what this is in reference to. Sorry]

*** Why does Jericho PD need three police cars and five policemen it would seem to me that you used the wrong venue to find an answer, providing that you are a citizen of Jericho you would attend a city council meeting and express your concern in an open forum about their oversized police department and why you feel it too large. [ Editor’s Note: That certainly does seem to be a logical plan. In fact, there are a lot of questions that could be addressed directly to our civic leaders. And doing so formally, in a public forum might even result in seeing action taken on the issue. I’m fairly certain that all of our municipal boards have time set aside for public comment]

*** I have been watching this officer Eric Johnson of Marion police dept. Keep up the great work. Chief Kelly would be smart to put officer Johnson in the Marion schools as a SRO he would be awesome with the kids. [ Editor’s Note: As long as Officer Johnson keeps doing cool stuff, we’ll keep putting it in the paper. You know, the way some folks are, though, I’m anticipating a text something along the lines of “ shouldn’t he be out arresting criminals instead of jumping rope or whatever?” And to you, hypothetical critic, let me preemptively say, there are many roles played by police officers, and goodwill ambassador to our children is just as important as any, so keep it up, offi-cer!]

*** I know Gordon Floyd is Street Department Supervisor for the City of Marion. But does he have an engineer degree? Marion is always about doing the things the cheapest way out. As he stated do some streets inhouse rather than contracting out the work. I know the Marion street department with Gordon Floyd, Supervisor, in charge worked with in house labor, the lower end of Meadowbrook and Colonial Streets. You can tell it was in-house. Shotty job! With water standing in places and un-furnished drop-off on Colonial St. I know for a fact that L.H. Polk has been on the list for several years. It is time for this street to be repaired by an engineer! As for as Trigg Dr., that should go back to the Developer of the subdivision. That street has been work on twice. What about the other streets and subdivision that Floyd has no way in and no way out! [ Editor’s Note: When we had the big rain Thursday afternoon, I was on my way home from work, which takes me to the intersection of Colonial and Meadowbrook. That intersection has historically flooded even with only a small amount of rain. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was not flooded, even though ditches all along L. H.

Polk were completely full. I don’t know where the water went, but it wasn’t at that intersection. I’m not saying this forgives other issues that Marion’s streets are experiencing, just noting that it isn’t all bad]
