Greyhounds Add First Signee for 2016-17
The ASU Mid-South men's basketball program has added their first signee for 2016-17 as Kris 'K.J.' Patrick, a 6'6', 260-pound forward signed an NJCAA Letter of Intent and Scholarship Agreement at a ceremony Thursday at Russellville High School.
Patrick averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds while shooting 54% from the field and 60% from the free throw line. He led the Cyclones to the 6A State Tournament quarterfinals for the third consecutive year after a Final Four appearance as a junior, and was named to the All-State Tournament team as well as being an All-Conference and 6A All-State selection for Russellville High School coach Matt Hall. Patrick has also been selected to play in this summer's AHSCA All-Star game at the University of Central Arkansas's Ferris Center as one of Arkansas' top 30 seniors.
'K.J. gives us an athletic post who can score on the block,' Greyhound head coach Chris Parker said. 'He has good hands and solid footwork, and I love the fact that he's been able to learn from Coach Hall who was an All-America forward at Harding University. K.J. is a great fit for our program, and our fans and community are going to love this kid.'
Hall is quick to pass on praise of the scoring forward as well. 'I am so excited K.J. made the decision to continue his basketball career at ASU Mid-South,' said Hall. 'He has a ton of potential, and I can't want to see what the future has in store for him. He is a special kid with a huge heart. The Greyhounds are getting a good one in K.J.!”
