Williams: ‘ If you know something, say something’
ralphhardin@gmail.com The Marion Police Department is still investigating the shooting death of 16year-old Jacameron Macklin Macklin, who was a sophomore at the Academies of West Memphis, was found shot to death in his home around 4 p.m. by his mother. Investigators are treating the incident as a homicide. Marion Police Lieutenant Detective Freddy Williams said the investigation is ongoing.
“We have been able to develop a few leads, with a possible person of interest,” said Williams. “We’ve talked to the neighbors there (on Sherwood Street, where the incident occurred) and we’re following up on that, and we want to keep residents informed, but we’re also hoping someone with information will come forward.”
Although he lived in Marion, Macklin was a sophomore at the Academies of West Memphis. Classmates are planning to hold a candlelight vigil for Macklin at 5 p.m., on Thursday, on the Academies of West Memphis campus.
Police are asking anyone with any information about the incident or any possible suspect or suspects to call the Marion Police Department at (870) 739-2101, or Crittenden County Crime Stoppers at (870) 732- 4444. All calls will be kept confidential.
“It’s a tragedy any time you have something like this happen,” said Williams. “Just a senseless thing, especially with someone so young. Any help we can get, any information, will be very much appreciated. They can call Crime Stoppers, or they can call me up at the police station. If you know something, say something.”
