Hall catches on at Central Baptist
WM School District Academies of West Memphis senior Darius Hall participated in a workout recently hoping to attract some interest from colleges.
Today, he's most happy he made the decision.
Hall impressed Central Baptist College coaches during the workout and they offered the 6-4 Blue Devil a scholarship, which Hall signed on Friday.
'We went to Arkansas Baptist in Little Rock about two weeks ago and it went well enough,' said Hall.
Hall played off the bench for head coach Larry Bray's squad in 2015-16 that peaked late in the year and made it to the quarterfinals of the 7A state tournament in Cabot, finishing with a 17-12 record.
Hall has the ability to play inside, but he also possesses a capable shooting touch from mid-range as far out as the three-point arc.
'(Hall) is a skilled player with the type of size we like to use,' said CBC assistant coach Nathan Bean, in his third year at the school. 'We think he's going to be pretty good. I think he can play the 3, 4 and the 5 positions.'
Bray said he thinks Hall can play college ball at that level (NAIA) if he continues to progress.
'He should do well at that level size-wise,' Bray said of Hall. 'I think he needs to be a more physical presence inside and get a little more consistent with what he does. But he has some skill in shooting the ball.'
