Why are the people who are suing the government for poisoning and hurting the people in Flint, MI being murdered? I see a pattern of corrupt government. [Editor’s Note: It is true that two people connected to the Flint water crisis recently died within a week of each other. One was definitely a homicide ( one of the first women to file a lawsuit in relation to the Flint water crisis, was found shot to death), the other, a foreman at Flint's Water Treatment Plant, was found dead due to as yet unrevealed causes. While I’m reluctant to say there’s a systematic assassination of key people in this crisis underway, it’s already looking pretty suspicious. And honestly, as far as corruption goes, I think Flint was already there a long time ago]

*** Does anyone other that I see the problem with the railroad? When it affects our traffic, ie the detour at Medel Marconi, they take their sweet time making repairs. When it affects the trains they will work 24-7 getting the repairs done. Shame on you!!!

[ Editor’s Note: If you look back at our nation’s history, you’ll find that the railroads have always been one of the most powerful entities in the country. Whether it has been in claiming land or deciding which towns lived and died by including or excluding them on train stops or controlling labor, railroads have always wielding a massive amount of authority. You might think that here in the 21st century, where we’ve got planes and trucks and barges, that influence might have waned, but I assure you it has not]

*** Marion High School has done a terrible job letting its seniors know about checkout dates and test exemptions. It is the next to last week of school, and nobody knows whether they are exempt from class tests or not. [ Editor’s Note: Obviously I can’t speak to every single student, but my son and my nephew are both seniors at Marion High School, and they are both fully aware of their responsibilities and deadlines and such as graduation approaches. If either of them were exceptionally responsible, I’d say it was a fluke, but as they are not, I’m not sure what to say]

*** Any homes for rent in west memphis??? the ads are wayyyy outdated. [ Editor’s Note: Thanks for texting in. Our website hasn’t been updating the classified listings and we were unaware. But to answer your question, I bet if anyone out there knows of any rental properties, they’d be happy to know there’s someone looking. I know there will be several new families coming into the community with the ACC relocation, so let me offer an early “ Welcome!”]

*** Why does the police report list have only “see case file” on some of the arrests? At least the address could be listed so we will know where all crimes are committed. Could this be to protect certain areas or people? [ Editor’s Note: No, it’s because the case stems from an investigation, not from a location]

*** Hey where are the businesses that would like to provide freebies or discounts locally to our great educators in West Memphis? Teacher AppreciationWeek is May 2-6 this year. It would be cool to see the community celebrating it all across town. [ Editor’s Note: As the husband of a teacher at the good ol’ Academies of West Memphis, I’m all about freebies and discounts for teachers. Are you coordinating something? If so, text us back and I’ll put it in the paper]

*** Horseshoe Lake residents want to know why the city is allowing the vacant lot at 147 Highland (see photo) to become a graveyard/junkyard for old boats? [ Editor’s Note: Is it possible that the property owner ( even if it’s vacant, someone owns it) has given people permission to keep these boats on his or her property? Is there a “ city beautifl” ordinance or some such code against this? Sorry, I’m not very keen on life at Horseshoe Lake. Has anyone talked to any city officials about it? I’m happy to run your photo to help get the word out, but I’m afraid that’s about the extent of my ability to help]
