Marion Board votes unanimously to retain basketball coach
Sports Editor The Marion School Board voted unanimously (6-0) to keep Irving Clay as its head boys basketball coach on Monday night.
Clay had been suspended with pay since March 3 after an altercation with a student.
The nature of that altercation was unknown, which resulted in the suspension.
The meeting lasted from 6 p.m. until just after 11 p.m. Clay was back at work on Tuesday morning.
The Marion native has been the head boys basketball coach since 2004.
