Pats victims of Bombers walk-off
Mountain Home 3, Marion 2
Special to the Times MOUNTAIN HOME — Mountain Home’s Ryan Czanstkowski delivered a two-out walk-off base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Bombers to a 3-2 victory over Marion in 7A/6AEast Conference action Friday night at Cooper Park.
With the score tied 2-2, Mountain Home’s Zane Walker led off the bottom of the seventh by reaching on an error. Walker was sacrificed to second by Payton Parker and took third on a wild pitch. With two outs, Czanstkowski – who was the tough-luck losing pitcher in the Bombers’ 2-1 loss to the Patriots at Marion on Tuesday – singled to score the winning run.
The victory snaps a skid for the Bombers, who improve to 7-14 overall and 4-6 in league play.
Marion dips to 3-19 overall and 3-7 in league play.
The Bombers scored a pair of unearned runs – none of the game’s five runs were earned on Friday – in the first inning to retake the early lead.
Seth Horn reached on an error, stole second and scored when Matt Robins also reached on an error.
Macllain Edington doubled home Robbins’ courtesy runner, Austin Jacobelli, to take the lead at 2-1.
Marion had scored once in the first after Heath Stephenson reached on an error.
A two-out rally in the fourth inning allowed Marion to knot the score at 2-2 as Tyler Steele reached on a fielder’s choice, moved to second on a hit by Peyton Walker, to third on a hit-by-pitch by Peyton McElroy, and scored on an error.
Left-hander Marshall Roberson started on the mound, striking out six and walking just two over six innings on the mound.
Roberson allowed two unearned runs on five hits.
Carson Yarbrough took the victory, striking out three in a hitless seventh inning.
Steele started on the hill for Marion, striking out three on the day and allowing only two hits – to Czanstkowski and Edington. Hayden Hodge, Jackson Wiggins and Ben Vaughn each added hits for the Patriots.
