New fire truck for Horseshoe Lake VFD
New fire truck for Horseshoe Lake VFD
37- year- old truck replaced with 2016 model
hbacond7@aol.com It’s been a long time coming, but the Horseshoe Lake Volunteer Fire Department has received their new 2016 Pirsch Fire Truck.
The truck will replace a 37-year-old truck, which did not meet new state standards. The cost of the new truck was $412,000. The Horseshoe Lake Volunteer Fire Department received a grant for $380,000 that covered the lion’s share of the cost. The city had $20,000 in other funds to pay towards the balance on the new truck. Now they must raise an additional $12,000 for the remaining balance.
The department is holding a Pancake Breakfast every other month as part of the fundraising effort and are also taking donations. Anyone wishing to make a contribution to the fund can send their donation to: HLVFD, 174 Highland Dr., Horseshoe Lake, AR, 72348.
The Fire Department has served the community well, especially considering the crew consists entirely of volunteers. Over the years the department has a number of grants, funds which have been used to purchase new equipment and build a new Fire Station. This past Saturday firefighters spent most of the day training with the new truck.
The city is also issuing a “friendly reminder” to community residents that annual dues of $50 are due, and may also be sent to HLVFD, 174 Highland Dr., Horseshoe Lake, AR, 72348.
