House afire

The old adage, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire” proved all too true for West Memphis Fire Department crews dispatched to 901 E. Polk St. last Wednesday on a call about a possible residential fire. Upon arrival, heavy fire and smoke was showing from the building, a 3-apartment residential unit. Crews with Engine Company 2 and Engine Company 4 made what Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Jones described as “an aggressive attack” on the fire, bringing it under control in just a few minutes. No one was injured in the fire but all three families living in the building were displaced. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
