– J. J. Abernathy with Arkansas Game & Fish Commission asks that anyone seeing dead deer call to report at 1-800482-9262 now through May 20th. The agency is testing for chronic wasting disease.
• Interceding Christian Center Love Month – Free clothing, food, drink, household items and entertainment from a local artist Saturday, April 9 and April 23, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Autumn and Walker Streets, West Memphis.
• Second Annual Keith Hickman Memorial BBQ – Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Dine in or carry out at Crittenden Lodge 607, 705 Commerce St., Earle. Big BBQ sandwich, baked beans, Cole slaw and drink $7. Whole Butts (while they last) $30. Open to the public.
• West Memphis Metropolitan Planning Organization – Is soliciting public comments concerning the upcoming FY 2017 Unified Planning Work Program. • The Church Nurse – Hosting weekly healthy lifestyle support group discussing digestive health, heart health, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and stroke prevention, every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at 208 Shoppingway Blvd. Suite E (next to H& R Block).
• Women’s Conference – Tuesday, April 12 through Friday, April 15 at 7 p.m. nightly at Second St. John, 305 Ingram Blvd., West Memphis. Guest speaker will be Kingdom Seekers, Jessica Davis and Voronica Barnes from Alabama. Stephen Chitman, host pastor.
• National Child Abuse Prevention Month – Guardians of Hope Event at Arkansas State University Mid-South Thursday, April 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. in Magruder Hall, Room 108, and will feature the First Lady of Arkansas, Susan Hutchinson as well as two speakers who are adult survivors of child sexual abuse. Donations from this event will benefit the prevention programs of the CAC. Thursday, April 21 the CAC and CASA will host the WM Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours at offices at Mid-South Health Systems at 905 N. 7th St., West Memphis.
• West Memphis Senior Life Center – Fundraiser Friday, April 8 at 318 W. Tyler, West Memphis. Yard sale and bake sale, also cakes, pies and hot dogs. Food Bank every 3rd Thursday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch served 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Center activities include bingo, dominoes, checkers, cards and etc.
• The Gatsby Gala Raffle – Benefiting Junior Auxiliary of Crittenden County. Raffle for an EZ GO Express S4 Golf Cart Saturday, April 9th at Southland Park Racing and Gaming. • Crittenden Count Master Gardeners Scholarship – The Crittenden County Master Gardeners are pleased to award secondary education scholarship annually. These scholarships are funded by CCMG projects conducted throughout the year.
