MHS students to Boys/Girls State

Ten students will represent Marion High School at Boys State or Girls State this summer. The girls are (from left) Annalee Parker, Morgan Massengale, Audrey Morgan, Karmen Jones and Ally Bramucci. The boys are (from left) T.J. Stotts, Trexler Proffitt, Benjamin Baser and Kadarius Johnson. Not pictured is Keshawn Gray. Boys State and Girls State is a national program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary and locally by the Marion Rotary Club and the local American Legion group. Students do not pay to attend and both local groups have contributed and sponsored several students over the past few years. Boys State will be held at UCA in Conway while Girls State will be at Harding University in Searcy. The week-long course teaches students the practical application of the fundamental principles and procedures of city, county and state government before they hold elections for government offices then apply what they learn to the operation of their own city, county and state governments.
