Despite sweep at USC, Arkansas still holding strong
UA Media Relations FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Even with the tough start to conference play last weekend in South Carolina, the Arkansas Razorback baseball team still found itself ranked among the top 20 nationally in three different polls this week heading into its second week of SEC play as Auburn comes to Baum Stadium for a three-game series starting on Friday.
The Razorbacks’ highest ranking this week comes at No. 18 in the USA Today/ESPN poll, a five spot dip from a week ago.
Arkansas is also No. 20 in both the National College Baseball Writer’s Association and DI Baseball.com polls.
Arkansas also remains ranked in the PerfectGame.org poll at No. 22 and the Baseball America poll placed the Hogs at No. 25.
Arkansas is now 15-6 for the year and looks to get back on track this week against Auburn after being swept in Columbia, South Carolina by the now 10thranked Gamecocks.
Sophomore Carson Shaddy hopes to continue his hot bat this week as he is hitting a team-leading .387 with 23 RBI and five home runs. Last Tuesday against Grambling State, Shaddy recorded a six RBI game, a career-best performance and the most by a Razorback since 2010.
The Hogs don’t have a midweek game this week due to spring break, but the team will be back on the field starting Friday to take on Auburn at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday’s game two will be at 6 p.m. and then Sunday’s finale will be at 1 p.m.
Tickets for this weekend’s series are still available at the Razorback Ticket Office and can also be bought online or at the Baum Stadium gate.
