West Memphis Christian’s season ended on Wednesday afternoon with a 59-35 loss to MRA in the second round of the MAIS Overall State Tournament.
The Black Knights finish their season 28-7 overall, with a shared regular season district title, a district tournament runner- up, a third-place placing in the North State Tournament, a semifinal finish in the AA state tournament, and a quarterfinal placing in Overall State.
It was the second time that MRA has eliminated West Memphis Christian from the Overall State tournament in three seasons. That school also ended the Black Knights’ run in the 2014 tournament.
MRA jumped up on______ West Memphis Christian 19-5 after the first quarter on Wednesday and never looked back.
The Black Knights were led by Tra Doolittle’s eight points, while also getting seven from Martinez Harper, six from Landon Pike, five from Dominic Rhoden, four apiece from Biron Rossell and Kentrale Green and a single point from Jameson Smith.
Harper paced the Black Knights in rebounds with four, while Rhoden came up with three and Hunter Weathers added a pair.
Devin Gilmore hit for a game-high 18 points, while Grifin Agent added 13.
West Memphis Christian hit just 13 of their 47 field goals, which is a 27.66% clip. The Black Knights were also outrebounded 41-19. MRA’s bench outscored the West Memphis Christian reserves 19-10.
