NLR sweeps Marion
Pats host Central on Tuesday
Sports Editor Marion’s boys and girls basketball teams each dropped games against North Little Rock last Friday night.
The girls seemed to hold their own against one of the top teams in the state, losing 49-43, to fall to 916 overall and 2-10 in the 7A/6A-East.
The boys claimed as much as a 12-point lead in the second quarter, but ran out of gas, losing 57-46.
Marion (13-10 overall, 84 7A/6A-East) got 14 points from senior guard A.J. Latham, 12 from junior forward Shaun Doss, six points apiece from Marlon Warren and Kamari Marrs, five points from Jourdan Barrow and two points from Eilsha Hobbs.
The Pats led 25-13 in the second quarter, but saw North Little Rock tie the score at 27-all at halftime.
North Little Rock dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring their visitors 14-4.
Marion will play its final home game of the season on Tuesday night when they host Little Rock Central. It will also be senior night. The girls varsity game will tip at approximately 6 p.m.
The Pats and Lady Pats will close their regular season on Friday night on the road against Jonesboro.
